The North Bay Scuba Club began in 1972 after two local diver enthusiasts attained their Certified Diver Teaching Classification and began teaching and promoting the sport of Scuba Diving. The club was formed to give newly certified basic divers, along with other local certified divers, a forum where they could practice this new recreational sport in a safe and knowledgeable way, to be able to advance their skills to higher levels of training and to share their fascinating experiences in the underwater world. Now after more than 40 years of existence the club, although no longer providing certification instruction is; however, still actively involved in promoting the sport, providing an atmosphere of different local diving experiences and most of all providing fun through comradeship. The club has members from every level of certification from Basic Open Water 1 Scuba Diver to Recreational Instructor Scuba Diver and so aids newly certified diving members to become better divers by providing leadership and sharing experiences. The club provides members with quality tested air for a much lower cost as we have our own air compressor with a large cascade system. Our dive shed located close to the North Bay waterfront, houses our compressor and other club equipment, provides a place to store our dive boat (“Big Red”) and also is a place to meet on our dive days. If you are a certified recreational scuba diver then we recommend you join a club where you will always find a dive buddy, become a more knowledgeable diver and be able to keep your skills learned current. So many divers who don’t dive regularly leave the sport after a few years because they don’t have a buddy, they lose their ability to feel competent and thus lose their enthusiasm.

You must accept responsibility for your own actions and safety during every dive. Evaluate the conditions before every dive, assuring that they fit your personal capabilities. Know your buddy's as well as your own ability level.
